Ask RUOK Any Day

R U OK day serves as a good reminder to check-in with each ourselves, each other, and those in our wider networks, not just on this day, but at any point in the year if you recognise that someone might be struggling.

Thursday 12 September, is annual R U OK Day.

As we keep in mind our Uniting Church values to grow with God, to care for each other and God's creation, to seek justice and to live lovingly in the world,  R U OK day serves as a good reminder to check-in with each ourselves, each other, and those in our wider networks, not just on this day, but at any point in the year if you recognise that someone might be struggling.

We can all make a difference to anyone who’s struggling by having regular, meaningful conversations about life's curveballs. If you feel like something’s up with someone you know, trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them how they’re going.

You don’t have to be an expert to have a caring, meaningful conversation. Follow R U OK?’s four steps:

  1. Ask R U OK?,
  2. Listen with an open mind,
  3. Encourage action, and
  4. Check-in

Showing you care, even if you don't have a solution, can go a long way to helping a person feel supported.

If you are struggling and need of extra support, there is help available. Lifeline (13 11 14) are available for a chat, any time day or night, with phone, text and live chat support options.
