Ever wondered how your unique gifts could be a blessing to others in mission and ministry? In our new series we feature the many faces across our Church who are serving where they are, with what God has given them. We hope that it will be a blessing and an inspiration.

Meet Rod Barnes

Current ministry

Technical Director at Adamstown Uniting Church, The Hunter Presbytery

What you love about being involved in this ministry?

I love helping to enhance and inspire the worship services, as well as providing support for our other events and community use of our premises. I particularly enjoy working with young people in this field. They are showing much enthusiasm to be involved in our services, exhibiting unexpected (although I should have expected it!) Creativity in their use of the equipment. They are quickly understanding the processes needed to run the tech and are facing the in-the-moment decisions required for in-house sound and livestreaming.

What you find most challenging?

Finding ways to underpin creative dreams being developed by others in our congregation and presbytery.

What you are looking forward to in your ministry in the year ahead?

Inspiring and encouraging our younger generations

Anything else you might want to share?

I find that many are not keen taking on tech roles in the church, but with some basic information and encouragement, this role can add much to our life as a congregation.
