Ever wondered how your unique gifts could be a blessing to others in mission and ministry? In our new series we feature the many faces across our Church who are serving where they are, with what God has given them. We hope that it will be a blessing and an inspiration.
Meet Meg James
I am the Education and Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator for the Synod of NSW & ACT.
Tell us about your role at the Synod office.
My role as Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator means that I am responsible for the training that Synod staff and members undertake. This includes staff compliance training and lay ministry. I am responsible for helping with the set up of new courses, ensuring that the system works efficiently and meets all requirements.
What lead you to your current role?
After working in a few different fields, a friend offered me a role working with him in a digital learning company, while the field was still very new. I found I really enjoyed the work, and have continued to work in the area. Over the years I’ve worked with tertiary, secondary, and primary groups, as well as retail, charity, and government organisations.
What impact do you hope your work has on members as they grow in their faith and service?
I hope that members find that my work is secondary to their learning and growth in their faith and service. What I do is simply a tool to help them on the path and what they learn enables them to serve God, his people and the church.
What are some recent improvements or additions to the LMS that will make learning more accessible for church members?
We’re constantly working to improve the LMS and make the experience for users simpler and more enjoyable. As well as improving the visual appearance and layout, we’ve improved security for all users. These are things we will keep working on, as well as exploring new educational tools and softwares to make learning much more enjoyable.
Anything else you’d like to add
Technology is nothing to be scared of or to consider ‘too complicated’! There is no such thing as being too old to learn about computers. I want nothing more than all users to find the experience of the LMS straight forward and easy to use.
