Be Travelling Conmen Aware

Synod Services has recently been made aware that Congregations may receive unsolicited approaches from tradesmen offering services from fixing cracks and potholes in driveways to repairing roofs.

In what has become quite a slick and sophisticated scam over many years, these may be travelling conmen who are offering to undertake work, often on the basis that they have been working down the road, have additional materials which they can offer for free, in return for paying for the labour of undertaking the repairs.

The work is then undertaken very quickly, often to a substandard, and with high pressure tactics to pay money in advance or immediately after the work is completed for in the thousands or tens of thousands of dollars.

If you receive an approach of this nature, our recommendation is to decline the offer and ask these tradesman to leave.

Please note that any build, maintenance or minor works over $5k requires an internal build application to be submitted to the Synod Property Services team.
